Tags

Tags are labels you create to bring your reporting structure into SmartSender.io and get aggregated reports based on criteria only you know. Tags are highly customizable, so you can create and assign them as you see them. 

Things to know before you start:

  • Tag names should be 30 characters or less.
  • Only periods, dashes, and underscores can be used for a tag name, in addition to letters and numbers.
  • Any tags starting with an underscore are reserved for internal use and will not work.
  • Tags should be unique and not be changed frequently, as SmartSender.io stores and aggregates only the first 100 Tags per account.
  • Before use, tags should be created in the relevant section, or else, the system will ignore them. 
  • Filter Tags in the following reports of the Analytics section:
    •  Performance
    •  Reports
    •  Detailed
    •  Email Log
    •  WebPush Log
    •  Telegram Log
    •  SMS Log
  • SmartSender.io automatically tags your messages with the title of campaign/split test/automation.
  • If you add two tags to one message, do not select both Tags in one report, as aggregated reports can not merge, and you will have incorrect data calculated twice.

Create a Tag

  1. Navigate to the Tags Management Page (Menu->Components->Tags).
  2. Click the “Create” button.
  3. Enter the Tag name and description.
  4. Click the “Save” button.

How tags work

You can tag messages using different features in the SmartSender.io platform (e.g., Templates, auditory Segments, etc.) to get hourly/daily/monthly aggregated reports of all messages with such tag.

How to tag messages using different features of the SmartSender.io platform

      • Tag Template
        1. Navigate to the “Templates” page in the “Content” section.
        2. Select the “Manage tags” option from the “More” drop-down menu.
        3. Select up to 3 tags and click the “Save” button.
      • Tag Contact List
        1. Navigate to the “Lists” page in the “Audience” section.
        2. Select the “Manage tags” option from the “List Settings” drop-down menu.
        3. Select up to 3 tags and click the “Save” button.
      • Tag Segment
        1. Navigate to the “Segments” page in the “Audience” section.
        2. Select the “Manage tags” option from the “Segment settings” drop-down menu.
        3. Select up to 3 tags and click the “Save” button.
      • Tag Campaign
        1. Navigate to the “Email Campaigns”/ “WebPush Campaigns”/ “Telegram Campaigns” page in the “Outbound” section.
        2. Select the “Manage tags” option from the “Actions” drop-down menu.
        3. Select up to 3 tags and click the “Save” button.

        1. Click the “Add New Campaign” button.
        2. Set up all standard settings.
        3. Navigate to “Advanced settings”
        4. Select up to 3 tags and click the “Save and Preview“ button.
      • Tag Split Test
        1. Navigate to the “Split Tests” page in the “Outbound” section.
        2. Select the “Manage tags” option from the “Actions” drop-down menu.
        3. Select up to 3 tags and click the “Save” button.
